If you are certain you have not received the confirmation email – the next step is to check your bank or Paypal account for signs of a successful transaction. If the transaction has been confirmed and money debited – this means that the booking has gone through but there was a problem with the automated email. If you are still concerned, and would like further help locating your tickets, please contact the Museum.

What time does the Museum open and movie start?

The Museum opens at 6 pm. We suggest arriving on time to ensure a great spot on the lawn or in the paved area of the courtyard. Give yourself time to relax and listen to an all-Australian playlist and enjoy your own picnic or some traditional BBQ food, drinks or ice cream.

The screening of the main movie cannot start until after sundown, which will be at approximately 8.40 pm.

How do I get there?

The Museum is located in the town of Birdwood on Shannon Street.

By public transport: Public transport is very limited to and from the area, especially at night.

By car: The Museum is a 50 to 55 minute drive from the City centre. Either via the SE Freeway, turning off at the Hahndorf exit, through Verdun and along Onkaparinga Valley Road to Birdwood (the Museum is well sign posted along this route). Alternatively, from the city head to Tea Tree Gully, then to Gumeracha and to Birdwood.

Where can I park?

There is plenty of parking available at the National Motor Museum and along Shannon Street, Birdwood.

What are the seating arrangements?

We recommend you bring a blanket or low beach chairs (without legs), cushions, or rugs. If it’s necessary for you to bring a full-height chair, you will be directed to sit behind or to the side of all other patrons at the cinema, so as not to obstruct sightlines. Thank you for your understanding. There will be a limited number of plastic chairs available should you not have any personal seating with you.

What food and drinks are available?

It is BYO alcohol and other beverages. There will be catering at the venue providing a delicious range of Australian BBQ fare, cold drinks and ice creams.

Can I smoke?

The National Motor Museum is a non-smoking venue. However, a pass out will allow smokers to partake outside of the Museum grounds. Please be mindful of others and ensure you dispose of the remains of your cigarettes appropriately.

What happens to lost property?

Please contact one of our staff before you leave the venue to report any lost items and leave your details with them. If you realise you have lost something after you have left the Museum, please contact us during opening hours (10 am to 5 pm).

What if it rains?

As an outdoor event it is subject to weather conditions. We will try to go ahead with the screening if possible, and will not cancel for light/intermittent/potential rain. We strongly recommend you bring wet weather gear to screenings in case of unexpected rain.

In the unlikely event of cancellation

Stay tuned, the Museum will be in touch with updates on your options.
