Ford Australia’s Largs Bay Assembly Plant

In 1925 the Ford Motor Company of Australia was established with headquarters at Geelong, Victoria. In 1926 Ford Australia established an Assembly Plant at the Largs Bay industrial area, near Port Adelaide which closed in 1965.

This represents an important aspect of South Australian vehicle manufacturing history. The National Motor Museum is seeking any information, photographs, documents or brochures relating to the development, operating history and closure of the Largs Bay Assembly Plant. If you are able to help and are willing to donate any material, or loan for the purposes of digitisation, we would be keen to hear from you. Please contact the Museum by email motor@history.sa.gov.au or by phone 08 8568 4000.
