Bricks on Wheels LEGO Competition

School holiday activity

$1000 worth of LEGO up for grabs! From 4 January 2014 and all month long the Museum is running a fun competition. Come and build your own dream car, truck or bike out of LEGO and you will enter our fabulous LEGO competition.

110 Years of the RAA

Temporary exhibition

2013 marks the 110th anniversary of the RAA in South Australia and to celebrate a special display is now on at the National Motor Museum. It features historic vehicles such as the Ford Thames service vehicle used from 1957, retro uniforms, memorabilia such as badges and brochures, and fabulous images documenting the history of the RAA. Hurry to Birdwood and discover the history of this South Australian icon.

Holden Hurricane

Discover the exciting Ferrari F2004 - one of the most successful Formula One cars of all time. Now on display at the National Motor Museum.

1920s Garage

Permanent exhibition

Come and see what the interior of a typical mechanical workshop looked like in the 1920s. Museum volunteers have created a replica 1920s Garage using tin signs, petrol pumps, original tools, advertising images, a fire extinguisher, and even a vintage typewriter and small office. The main feature is a rolling Ford Model T chassis, designed to show the various components of a chassis and running gear and how they fit together.

Children are very welcome at the Museum. Not only are there close to 400 historic and significant vehicles on display, there are also have lots of fun interactives for children.

Bobby Socks, Fins and Chrome

Permanent exhibition

Australia had its own experience of the 1950s. Check out the jukebox, which plays the number one hits of the decade - and there's not much rock and roll! You can also try out our drive-in experience.
