The 2017 Tour Down Under will pass through Birdwood on Friday 20 January. To mark this occasion and celebrate the strong links between cycling and motoring, up to 150 community collectors and recent Bay to Birdwood entrants will form a guard of honour with their vehicles along Shannon Street. This will make for a spectacular display as the riders pass the National Motor Museum between a collection of veteran, vintage and classic vehicles during their Stage 4 ride.
The Museum celebrates the development of the two-wheeled pedal power through examples of motorized bicycles in the collection, including a steam powered bicycle.
The Bay to Birdwood honours the journey made by the Tour Down Under participants as it too is an epic journey that tests wheels, machines and human endurance.
